Public organization "Rodyna" (in ukrainian language Rodyna means motherland) has been providing social services for families with children with developmental disabilities for 17 years. It was created in Kiev. “Rodyna” was organized by parents in opposition to the state care system for special children.
Today, “Rodyna” is a kind of a boarding school. “Rodyna” has the services of a day care center and individual support (mainly for families with young children). At the moment, the Center regularly has 20 children aged from 2 to 18 years with combined developmental disorders in: ASD, genetic disorders (including Rett syndrome), hydrocephalus, visual disturbances, epilepsy. The pupils of the center have mental disorders of various degree, with speech either echololic or absent. Some children use alternative communication (PECS cards).
All children need a visual daily routine and almost constant adult support. For development communication skills the children need such tools as Switch buttons (for example, Jelly Bean Twist-Top Switch) and GoTalk with different number of windows. This equipment can help them become more confident in the expression of their desires, feelings, the message of some personal information, understanding of the process in progress at school and at home.
We want to raise enough money to buy all communicative equipment this school needs.
Дай бог детям здоровья!
